Candylicious (in progress)

I channel the power of calamine lotion and clay masks in altering the porous and soft nature of the skin in Candylicious. I move through different parts of the body in from a semi dry to then fully dried coatings on the body. Sculptural moments in my performance are spliced within intense moments muscular articulation of the body trying to reveal itself. How is beauty in the body is visually defined and felt by others? There is tension of a flattened view of external beauty-- smooth and unfettered-- with action-oriented inner beauty-- tough and overcoming. Can both coexist together to represent a multifaceted person? I want to research other objects (affiliated with the beauty industry) that will help and hinder the body in finding that clarity.
